Don’t give up on beauty in times of darkness.

by Aimee Sher1 Comment on Don’t give up on beauty in times of darkness.

My friends, don’t give up on beauty in times of darkness. Yes, rage into the night. Yes, protest the injustice in the world. Yes, perform civil disobedience, if that is…

I'm always getting asked how I prevent pests in my I'm always getting asked how I prevent pests in my stash and in my knits.

I am extra careful and worried about my knits because I have lost an entire lace-weight oversized shawl before to carpet beetles! It is just the worst thing when it happens and now I’m extra vigilant. I thought I could write it all down in case someone else wants to be extra careful.

Here are the steps I take (yes, all of them) to prevent and treat pest issues in knits.

Of course, these tips also apply to animal fibers that are machine knit, but since my page is specifically geared towards fiber artists, it feels extra important for us because it takes us so long to make these items, and we love them so much!

If you have any more pest prevention and treatment tips for knits please do share away. ❤️

Help for a new weaver please! I have 450 y Help for a new weaver please!

I have 450 yards of this handspun DK weight plant blend yarn I spun from @InglenookFibers ages ago, and I think it really really wants to be some kind of weaving.

I'm looking into rigid heddle looms but honestly it's so hard to figure out what I need. I'm looking to make mostly accessories, dish cloths, cushion covers, that sort of thing, and to use some of my handspun that I think is suited for weaving instead of knitting.

I'm thinking maybe I should go with Kromski since my wheel is from them and I love the look of their products? But if anyone has any better suggestions I'm all ears!

Also, what size should I be getting? I plan to have it in a corner of my studio with a stand.

The test has a lengthy test period (deadline in late September) and there are still a couple of spots of partial or full yarn support (not necessarily with recommended yarn due to budget!) available.

Psst ... have you seen this new color of @LaBienAi Psst ... have you seen this new color of @LaBienAimee Corrie Confetti?

It's called Aimée's Peach Sweater and I'm SO honored that she knit the #GoGentlyCardigan using this new colorway. This and other Corrie Confetti colorways, which are spun with Corriedale and recycled end bits of yarns, is available now. Aren't those tweedy speckles just the best?
